Alec Glass is a first year graduate student at California State University, Northridge where he is studying Cello Performance with Diane Roscetti. Growing up in Connecticut, Alec started playing cello at the age of 9 and continued playing in orchestras through middle school.  In 2012, he moved to California and while attending Westlake High School, played in several honors orchestras and had worked his way up to the Principal Cellist of the Chamber Orchestra when he graduated in 2015.  Alec then started at Moorpark College where he studied cello with Ashley Walters and performed in the Moorpark College Symphony under the direction of Professor James Song for 3 years. Alec transferred to CSUN in 2019 for his Bachelors in Cello Performance where he was a member of the CSUN Symphony, under the direction of John Roscigno. As part of CSUN’s 2019 Cellobration series, Alec had the opportunity to play for Ben Hong, the Associate Principal Cellist of the LA Philharmonic, as well as other renowned visiting cellists.  After graduating in 2021, Alec has returned to CSUN for his M.M. in Cello Performance where he has been a member of the CSUN Honors Quartet since 2020 and principal cellist for the CSUN Symphony. This will be Alec’s first solo performance with an orchestra and is honored that it will be with the Moorpark Symphony.
