Lisa Febre - Cellist
A native of Rochester, NY, Lisa is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music College Preparatory Program and received her Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance from Ithaca College.
Lisa spent 10 years in Williamstown, MA, where she was a member of the Berkshire Symphony, Berkshire Bach Society, Binghamton (NY) Philharmonic, Massachusetts Wind Orchestra, Sage Symphony (Vermont), and the Oblong Winds (woodwind quintet). She moved on to Las Vegas, where she performed in all the woodwind seats of "Phantom! The Las Vegas Spectacular" at the Venetian Hotel, Casino, Resort; the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, the Las Vegas Opera & Ballet, and The Las Vegas Quintet. Lisa arrived in Los Angeles in 2010, and spent 5 years as the principal oboist with the San Fernando Valley Symphony and English horn with the Moorpark Symphony. She also recorded extensively for television and film, including being a prominent performer on the last 4 seasons of the tv show "Smallville", and vocalist in the opening credits of the 2011 "Charlies Angels" reboot on ABC. She has an onscreen credit for the local Ventura County documentary "Stone on Stone" (as Lisa Smolen) and was a featured soloist in the score to the 2015 LA Film Festival pick "Bastards y Diablos".
In 2012, she suffered an injury that would ultimately end her oboe career, but always the flexible musician, she took up the cello in 2015 and is now embarking on a new chapter of her musical career. In 2016, she returned to MSO as a member of the cello sections and has returned to her career of freelancing and recording. Lisa appreciates this change in career that has given her the unique distinction of experiencing both the wind and string side of the orchestral world.
In her spare time, Lisa is a devoted practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga, hikes in the mountains of the Historic Santa Susana Pass State Park with her dogs, and is a volunteer with the California State Parks Department. She and her husband, composer Louis Febre, live in Chatsworth, CA.
"I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the musicians of the Moorpark Symphony for welcoming me back with open arms; and to thank Pamela de Almeida for not only taking the time to teach me the cello, but for her unwavering support and encouragement of this new career trajectory. And of course, for being my friend."
