Rhondda Dayton - Principal Flute
Rhondda is currently Principal Flute with the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra, Westlake Village Symphony, and Cabrillo Music Theatre's pit orchestra. She has been a featured soloist with Moorpark, Beach Cities, Hour of Power, Ventura Civic, Long Beach City College, California Lutheran University, Orchestras. She was also principal flute for the internationally televised Hour of Power Orchestra at the Crystal Cathedral for 11 years where she performed with many top artists including David Foster, Amy Grant, Roger Williams, Michael Crawford, and Gladys Knight.
Rhondda was chosen to perform with the National Flute Association’s Professional Flute Choir at several conventions and has premiered new works with Flauto Badinage Flute Ensemble, Wind Advisory Wind Quintet, the National Flute Choir, and the Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra at various NFA conventions throughout the US.
Rhondda is the Artistic Director and Founder of Pipe Dream Flutes/Pipe Dream Flutes and Friends (originally Flauto Badinage, founded in 1989), which consist of various members of the flute family that can be seen and heard at many of the ensemble's appearances. Pipe Dream Flutes has performed in North America and Europe and has had the opportunity to commission, introduce and promote original works and arrangements by various composers.
Rhondda's recording credits include ten National Flute Choir CDs, Celine Dion's Grammy award winning These are Special Times (vocals); The Professional Christian Wind Ensemble's Rejouissance; Terrance P. Minogue's Angels & Shepherds and Jesus for a Day; Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra's Vivaldi Flute Concertos featuring David Shostac.
In July of 2009 Rhondda performed in Vienna, Austria with the Westminster Chamber/Festival Orchestra, Pipe Dream Flutes, and Wind Advisory Wind Quintet for the International Haydn Festival. In 2011, she performed with the Westminster Chamber/Global Community Orchestra on Oahu, Hawaii. Both performances included several world premieres.
